Venus in Red Review

Venus in Red

by Therin Knite

"Grayson Dynamics, led by the illustrious Mick Grayson, is the most powerful technology firm in the world. But underneath the fame and fortune exists a dark and dirty history. Corruption. Lies. Betrayal.
Now, a woman with a grudge intends to wipe clean that filthy slate—by killing the CEO who wronged her years ago and ending the global coup he’s been planning for years.

And how will she accomplish this? With her newly acquired neural enhancements, of course. Complete with the power to manipulate the minds of others."

Although a short and quick read, Venus in Red is full of action with never a dull moment. Ms. Knite does well leaving the main character unnamed until the very last moment. I really like that. While reading Venus in Red I couldn't help but wonder what the MC had gone through that pushed her to that point. It all came to light and the ending wraps everything up nicely. I wouldn't mind seeing more of this character in the future.

Call for Street Team Members!

Call for Street Team Members!
I’m looking for readers interested in becoming part of my Street Team:

What the heck is a street team?
A street team is comprised of fans who wish to help get my books off the ground. Whether a member leaves a review on Amazon, Goodreads, Barnes and Noble, tweets or posts about the series on Facebook and Twitter—all help is immensely appreciated and in turn, rewarded. Good Karma always has a way of returning to you in the end!
What do you get for joining the Street Team?
There isn't a huge time commitment to being a member. As a member, you will join the online Facebook group and help spread the word about my books. Other than the knowledge that you are indeed an amazing human being, or a real-life superhero in disguise  . . . you’ll also get:

  •  First dibs PDF copies of ARCs (Advance Reader Copies). ARCs are books that are still in the works and will have some errors and may be slightly different from the final published copy. By accepting an ARC copy, you agree to not share, giveaway, or sell the copy off without my express permission.
  • First looks at cover art
  • Special street-team only giveaways and other swag and goodies that may pop up occasionally.
  • Promo materials such as bookmarks, flyers, etc. to those who want them.
There’s no obligation, and all that I ask is for you to have fun! Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

Ways Street Team members can participate:
You can do whatever you feel comfortable doing. It isn’t necessary to do all these, they are merely examples of ways you can help:
  • Join the Facebook group and get to know me. (If you’re a gamer, we’ll get along swell!)
  • Invite other readers (adults or older teens) to join the team.
  • Talk about my books on social media when you feel inspired - Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter, Blogger, tumblr etc.
  • Host a contest on your social media platforms. (I can provide giveaway prizes within reason)
  • Spread the word to family and friends about my books. (But please don’t spam them! We don’t want to drive them away!)
  • Take promo materials such as books marks and flyers to local readers groups, coffee shops, conventions, etc. that permit them. (If you run out, let me know and I’ll mail you more!)
  • Suggest one of my books for any book club in your area.
  • Ask your local library to order my books (or donate a copy)
  • Request the books up at your local indie store.
  • Use hashtags to get discussions going on books. (#TeamRil was created by one loyal reader of my Chronicles of Midgard series—it’s great!)
  • Post honest reviews on any site like Goodreads, Amazon, Barnes and Noble etc. (I can offer free PDF copies of ones you haven’t read and really want to read)
  • Add my books to your Goodreads lists.
  • Post about books on Release days and cover reveals.
  • Post about author news such as promos, appearances etc.
  • Share your favorite quotes from my books online.
  • Write a review for your local newspaper.
This is meant for those people who have either read and enjoyed my book, who want to play an active role in supporting me, or plan to read my books and want to be a part of something fun and unique.

Why am I doing this?
  • To connect more to the readers who enjoyed my book and get the word out about my books in a more personal way.
  • This one-on-one connection allows me to connect more on a personal level to thank you for your ongoing support!

If you are interested in joining this team, simply email me and I will tell you what you need to do! Thank you for showing interest!

The White review

The White

by T. L. Shreffler

"Ever since The White appeared in our valley of Windridge, my people have lived in fear. But today that fear ends. Finally, the King has sent his most elite dragon hunters to kill The White, the last of the imperial dragons."

Since the death of her father, Sienna Foxburn hasn’t felt safe. The White, a fire-breathing imperial dragon, terrorizes the Valley of Windridge with no end in sight. But Sienna isn’t satisfied hiding behind the walls of her keep. She is tired of fearing the dragon, but she can’t fight it alone.

Then a mysterious sorceress and two elite dragon hunters arrive, claiming to be sent by the King. Thus begins the great hunt for The White. Sienna embarks on a dragon-hunting adventure through the exotic Valley of Windridge, all while uncovering secrets and conspiracies that could endanger the entire Kingdom….

The beginning of another great series by one of my favorite authors. I'm already a huge fan of her Cat's Eye Chronicles and it looks like The Dragon Pearl series will be no different. The story centers around Sienna Foxburn, a young woman who doesn't feel quite like she has a place within the safe walls of her home, feeling more comfortable roaming the lands around it. I find her to be a very realistic character, she has her skills and confidence in certain areas, but she can also be a bit reckless at times and has some fears she will need to overcome. all in all, I really like her.

Then there's this awesome character named Darius. He is frightening and dangerous, but he's not the quiet, gloomy brooding type like a certain assassin from the Cat's Eye Chronicles. He smiles and even takes part in conversation. I like his character so much and look forward to his further interactions with Sienna. There is something there that piqued my interest greatly.
The White is full of action and my most favorite: dragons. Being a avid tabletop gamer, I like how Shreffler didn't go with the flow of stereotypical everyday fantasy dragons. The one that caught my interest the most was the mirror dragon. I love the concept!

The only part I didn't like what how abrupt the ending felt. I don't mind cliffhangers, but this one kind left me with an irritated feeling, like there should have been maybe a page or two more to smooth out the ending a bit. All in all, I loved it.

Now I have two series by Miss Shreffler that I am eagerly awaiting the next installments!
